Double Crochet Stitch

A double crochet (dc) stitch is a taller stitch than a half double crochet. Here’s how to work the double crochet stitch:

1. Start by making a slip knot on your hook and chain the desired number of stitches.
2. Yarn over (bring the yarn over the hook from back to front)
3. Insert your hook into the fourth chain from the hook (counting the loop on the hook as the first chain)
4. Yarn over again and draw the yarn through the chain stitch. You should now have three loops on your hook.
5. Yarn over again and draw the yarn through the first two loops on the hook.
6. Yarn over again and draw the yarn through the last two loops on the hook.
7. You’ve completed one double crochet stitch.
8. To continue, yarn over and insert your hook into the next chain stitch. Repeat steps 4-7 across the row

As you work the double crochet, take care to maintain an even tension. Make sure to yarn over twice before inserting hook, not to forget the second yarn over before inserting hook.
